Police on Monday managed to nab notorious burglars in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Kangan areas who reportedly had been giving locals sleepless nights.

Police sources said that police apprehended three burglars red handed during night patrolling when they were attempting to broke into the shops in Ganderbal and Kangan.

Reports said that night patrolling team from Police Station Kangan caught a burglar red-handed when he was attempting to sneak into a provisional store.

SDPO Kangan, Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary said that their night patrolling team apprehended a person red handed when he was trying to sneak into a Kiryana shop. He identified the burglar as Sher Jahan of Argam Bandipora.

“We registered an FIR vide number 48/2015 under section 380, 457 RPC in this regard and investigation is going on,” the Police Officer said.

Meanwhile, Ganderbal police party during a night patrol also nabbed two notorious burglars when they were making a bid to loot a mobile shop.

Confirming the incident, Station House Officer Ganderbal Asif Iqbal identified the accused as Tufail Ahmed Kaloo and Muhammad Ashraf Dar both residents of Barsoo Ganderbal.

“The accused during questioning confessed that they had been indulging in burglary incidents in the district and recently they managed to decamp goods from a provisional store in Ganderbal. We have registered a two cases vide FIR numbers 48 and 49 of 2015 under section 457,380 of RPC against them,” he said.

In another action, police held two drug peddlers from the same district along with 137 Codeine syrups. Police identified these peddlers as Showket Bhat and Irshad Mir both residents of Saloora Ganderbal.
