Burglars Target Shops in South Kashmir District

   

SRINAGAR: Unknown thieves allegedly carried out theft in two shops in the Rampora Trenz area of Imamsahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district during the intervening night of Saturday, triggering concern among local traders.

According to reports, the first shop belongs to Mohammad Jabbar Malik, son of Ghulam Hassan Malik, a local resident of Trenz, Imamsahib. The thieves reportedly broke open the lock of the shop and decamped with a generator and other iron and blacksmith-related items that were kept inside.

The second incident involved a grocery shop owned by Mohammad Iqbal Ahangar, son of Abdul Hamid Ahangar. Reports said that the burglars damaged the wall of the shop to gain illegal entry and stole grocery items. The shutter of the shop was also found damaged during the incident.

Locals said the thefts took place during the night hours and were noticed in the morning, triggering fear and resentment among shopkeepers of the area. They urged authorities to step up night patrolling to prevent such incidents.

Meanwhile, police have taken note of the incidents and are expected to initiate necessary action to identify and nab those involved. [KNT]
