SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a committee to conduct a joint inspection of the bypassed stretches of the old National Highway-44 (Udhampur–Ramban section) before their formal takeover by the Public Works (Roads and Buildings) Department.
As per Government Order No. 02-PW (Roads and Buildings) of 2026, as per the news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the committee includes the Chief Engineer, PW(R&B) Department, Chenab Zone; Superintending Engineer, Udhampur–Ramban Circle; Executive Engineer, PWD Division Udhampur/Ramban; Superintending Engineer (RSAC), DIQC, J&K; and a representative of the Regional Officer, NHAI, Jammu.
The committee has been directed to jointly inspect the bypassed stretches and submit a detailed inspection report, along with specific recommendations, if any, for further action by the competent authority.
