Nearly a dozen civilians, including nine women were injured outside a mosque in Reshi Mohalla village of Shopian district in southern part of Kashmir when forces swung into action to stop reverberating of pro-freedom anthems being played on mosque loud speakers on Saturday morning.

Local correspondent reports said that police fired pellets on people who tried to stop them from advancing. “Nine ladies were injured in police action. One of wounded ladies has been referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment as she is feared to have received pellets in her eye.”

The lady has been identified as Sara Begum w/o Mohammad Hussain. Pertinently her husband is also reported to have received injuries.

Meanwhile parts of Kashmir are under curfew as the valley is observing first death anniversary of popular militant commander Burhan Wani.

Reports coming in from Rajpora area of Pulwama said that the forces deployment is in unprecedented strength. A local said that it seems like “forces have outnumbered civilian population.” Minor clashes were also reported from different places of the area.
