At least four youth were injured, two critically, when armed government forces opened fire in South Kashmir.

Newspaper reports reaching here said that two persons sustained bullet injuries as forces fired on the mourners in Zainapora area of Shopian district on Monday. The youth mourners were part of a procession protesting against killing of 13 year old boy who was killed in forces firing late Sunday evening.

“The forces first lobbed tear canisters and pepper gas and later fired directly at the protesters injuring two persons,” a newspaper report said. They have been shifted to District Hospital Shopian.

Meanwhile, Police have fired upon protesters at Zirpora area of Bijbehara of Islamabad. “Two youth have been injured and taken to Srinagar for treatment. One youth is shot in chest while other in abdomen,” a newspaper report said.

The report added that forces have vandalized SDH hospital Bijbehara. “Doctors and patients have also been beaten. The hospital administration has reported the incident of vandalism to DC Islamabad.”
