At least sixteen mourners were shot dead by forces following the death of poster boy of “new age” militancy, Burhan Wani.

Burhan, who led a group of 17 militants, died in a brief gun battle with forces which included Special Forces from Cargo Srinagar, in South Kashmir’s Kokernag area of Friday evening.

Those who were killed by forces were identified as:

2: Khursheed Ahmad r/o Harwat Kulgam

3: Safeer Bhat r/o Charigam, Islamabad (drowned)

4: Adil Bashir r/o Verinag, Islamabad

5: Abdul Hameed Mochi r/o Arwani Kulgam

6: Danish Shah r/o Achabal Islamabad

7: Jehangir Ganai r/o Hassan Pora Bijbehara, Islamabad

8: Azad Hussain r/o Shopian

9: Aijaz Thokar r/o Siligam Islamabad

10: Mohammad Ashraf Dar r/o Kokernag Islamabad

11: Showkat Mir r/o Hassanpora, Bijbehara Islamabad

12: Haseeb r/o Batpora, Islamabad

13: Imtiaz Mandoo, s/0 Mohammad Shafi, r/o Nandpora Khanbal

14: Mashooq Ahmad r/o Qazigund (succumbed in SKIMS)

15: Mohammad Altaf Rather r/o Rajpora Pulwama

16: Irfan Malik, Nehama Pulwama

Meanwhile, protests and clashes continue in various parts of Valley.

Separatists extended strike call up to Monday. All top resistance leaders are under arrest.

Reports reaching here from central Kashmir’s Soibugh said that stone pelting and tear gas shelling is going on in the area. Forces resorted to aerial firing last late evening as protests refused to die down.

“Situation has not changes since last evening,” a local said, “firing and stone pelting is going on.”

Reports reaching from Tikki Pora and Lal Pora areas of Lolab in Kupwara said that stone pelting is going on.

From summer capital Srinagar, youth resorted to intense stone pelting at Nowgam while forces resorted with tear gas and flash bang shelling.

Reports of protests reached here from Pampore where forces resorted to aerial firing as well.

Reports reaching from Bandipora said that youths clashed with forces during the protest demonstrations against Burhan’s killing.

Ms Mehbooba Mufti led government imposed severe restrictions across Kashmir, however, people came out on roads and held protests in which one youth was killed in South Kashmir’s Murran area of Pulwama early today.

Medical Superintendent SMHS Srinagar told Kashmir Life that it received 88 youths on Saturday. “Three succumbed to injuries late night,” he said. “One youth from Newa Pulwama was brought Sunday morning to hospital who also succumbed to his injuries.” At least, 35 were hit by bullets.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS said that the hospital received 22 bullet hit injured patients. “3 injured youths later succumbed late Saturday night,” he informed. “The youths belonged to Achabal, Qazigund and Islamabad.”
