The firebrand Unionist Lawmaker, Engineer Rasheed, organized funeral prayer in his constituency in North Kashmir on Sunday.
In a tele-statement to Kashmir Life, the Langate lawmaker said, “thousands of mourners participated uin the funeral prayers in absentia for Burhan Wani.”
Poster boy of “new age” militancy, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, died along with his two associates on late Friday evening in South Kashmir’s Kokernag area in Islamabad.
“Nimaz-e-Jinazah was offered before which homage was paid to the slain militant commander,” he said.
Addressing “over 500o mourners” at Qalamabad, Langate, Rasheed implored up on government of India to read “writing on the wall”. “We are not terrorists,” he told the gathering, “because we are Muslims that is why we are being killed.”
Questioning the “peace statement from politicians”, Rasheed said, “peace in J&K lies in resolution of the dispute.” “If Burhan was a terrorist, how come lakhs of mourners turned up for his funeral?”
Rasheed said that Kashmir was not a “law and order issue”. “GoI needs to read the under current and militancy can’t die unless and until plebiscite is held in Kashmir.”
Pertinently, Kashmir is under strict curfew following the death of slain militant commander. Phone network has been snapped in South Kashmir while mobile internet has been snapped across Kashmir.
