AIP President and MLA Langate Er Rasheed Monday said that killers have no moral authority to appeal for maintaining peace in the valley.
In a statement issue today, Er Rasheed reminded govt. spokesperson Naeem Akhtar that before appealing to maintain peace he is morally and legally bound to explain what forced his govt. to shield the killers of Handwara innocents.
“Let Naeem Akhtar and company not forget that whenever I asked govt. to full fill its promise to book Handwara killers, you all used to label me as a Pakistani agent and humiliate me by throwing out of the house,” Rasheed said. “Had you just even identified the killers and lodged FIR against them, police and other security agencies would have thought ten times before sending dozens to graveyard in past three days.” But, he said, the sermons of Akhtar and others to maintain peace would have carried some weight and takers.
“But you neither did it in the past nor should one except anything good from mouth pieces of New Delhi in feature. It would be better for Naeem Akhtar and others not to make joke of themselves by giving peace sermons on one hand and giving security forces a free hand of the other side.”
Er Rasheed lashed out at Omar Abdullah for offering his support to Mehbooba in restoring peace and said that Abdullah should first know what he has to offer and who are takers of his peace appeals?
“Had Omar or Mehbooba ever spoken a word to New Delhi about the real aspirations of Kashmiri people and punished even a single officer in uniform? Kashmiris might have a reason to listen their peace sermons. But the so-called mainstream parties have lost their credibility as they have acted like collaborators from time to time and diluted the real issue. Let Omar and Mehbooba know that maintaining peace or resolving issues is not their family affair and Kashmiris need peace more than anybody else but it does not mean that they should surrender everything. Whenever people claim to have restore peace, it has been a temporary phase.”
Er Rasheed asked why does not anybody answer that if during highly volatile and violent Jat agitation not even a single man died in Haryana, why should kashmaris be send to graves even if they chant a peace full slogan. Er Rasheed alleged that state and central govt. seem to be more worried about Amarnath yatra rather caring about lives and property of Kashmiris.
