Akin to Saturday when 12 youth mourning Burhan Wani’s death were killed in forces action, the tense Sunday started in Kashmir with news of a killing of a Pulwama youth.
Reports identified the slain youth as Irfan Ahmad Malik of Nehama who was reportedly part of protest demonstration in Murran area of Pulwama. Malik reportedly succumbed to injuries in hospital.
SMHS MS told Kashmir Life that three seriously injured youth in forces retaliatory firing succumbed to injuries in the Hospital last late night.
The MS said that the hospital received a total of 88 injured persons with 6 critical on Sunday.
The three deaths plus the fresh killing of a Pulwama youth have taken the death toll to 16. Over 200 people are said to have sustained injuries.
Notably, Kashmir is on boil after the face of “new militancy”, Burhan Wani died along with his two associates in Kokernag on Friday evening. The 21-year-old Hizb commander’s killing triggered a wave of unrest across the Kashmir. His funeral in his hometown Tral witnessed a massive participation. On the day of his burial, twelve persons were killed in forces action. The killing spree has apparently pushed the valley to edge.
