Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday evening in a hurriedly called presser said that eight civilians were killed following the death of militant commander Burhan Wani.
Poster boy of “new age” militancy, Burhan Muzaffar Wani – a six year old Hizbul Mujahedeen commander – died along with two of his associates on late Friday evening in South Kashmir’s Kokernag area.
Addressing a press conference here, ADG CID and Kashmir Police said that eight persons were killed including a youth who drowned. All the casualties were reported from South Kashmir.
Those who were killed in forces action included Zubair Ahmad from Qaimoh; Khurshid Ahmad from Kulgam; Asif Ahmad from Yaripora; Showkat Ahmad Mir from Arwani; Aijaz Ahmad from Seer; Mohammad Ashraf from Larnoo; Amir Ahmad from Verinag and Yawar Manzoor from Khandroo.
