Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Friday convened an officers meeting to fix price of various essential commodities especially mutton.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on ways to ensure price control of essentials of life. It was given out that the rate of mutton without Ujri has been fixed at Rs 400 per Kg, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The rate was fixed on the basis of suggestions obtained from Meat dealers and other concerned officers.
On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner stressed upon all the DCs to intensify the market checking in their respective jurisdictions. The Tehsildars, SHOs and officers of CA&PD were also directed for conducting regular market checking.
The meeting was informed that strict action would be taken against traders found resorting to over-charging and hoarding.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today convened a joint meeting of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and representatives of private transporters to review stock position in Ladakh region.
The Div Com directed the transport authorities to ensure fixed rates while carrying the essential commodities to the Ladakh region. He also instructed the authorities to provide better transport facilities for the region.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kargil briefed the Divisional Commissioner about the stock position. The Div Com was informed that adequate stock of essentials is available at various sale centres of the Ladakh region.
During the meeting the Divisional Commissioner stressed for coordination among various departments so that people don’t have to face any inconvenience.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon also convened a meeting regarding use of prohibited calcium carbide for ripening of fruits especially mangoes and papaya by some unscrupulous elements.
On the occasion, the Div Com directed the officers to keep a strict vigil on such kind of malpractice and conduct frequent checks at Parimpora Mandi so that the menace is eradicated.
He further directed that in case such kinds of consignments enter the state, the entire responsibility shall be on fruit dealer and commission agents operating fruit Mandi Parimpora.
Dr Samoon directed officials of Department of Drugs and Food Control organization to ensure sale of safe fruits in markets. He asked them to destroy adulterated food items as per provisions of Food Safety Act.
He further directed for formation of a squad comprising members from Drugs and Food Control Organization, Horticulture, SMC to keep strict vigil on such kind of malpractice.
