SRINAGAR: A capacity building cum training programme on People’s Plan Campaign (PPC), 2019, preparation of Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and Mission Antyodaya Survey 2019 for the Sarpanchs of different Panchayats was held today.

The spokesman said that District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Kargil Shabir Hussain, Block Development Officers, other concerned officers and the Sarpanchs attended the training programme.

The Sarpanchs were imparted training and enlightened in detail about the various aspects of the GPDP and web portals like Mission Antyodaya and GPDP portal.

The District Panchayat Officer Kargil urged the Sarpanchs to work in tandem and close coordination with the concerned officers, other functionaries as well as the people at the grassroots to assess the genuine developmental requirements on ground, which would prove helpful in the formulation of workable developmental plans under GPDP.

The participants were also instructed about the ways and means required to recognize different infrastructural and human resource deficits in basic developmental indices like health, nutrition, education, community assets and other related aspects and corrective measures for better planning at the grassroots.

Meanwhile, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan launched the Centre for Social Development and Policy Research (CSDPR) Kargil and its official websit.

Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abbass Razvi, Former Commissioner Secretary Revenue and noted scholar and poet Kacho Asfandyar Khan Faridoon, Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmad Wani, Former Joint Commissioner Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) and eminent educationist Kaneez Fatima, Professors, Lecturers, intellectuals and students were present on the occasion.

The aim of establishing the trust and launching of its website is to address the developmental and other allied issues of the region by mapping and formulating a group of intellectuals, policy makers, subject experts, students and professionals in an endeavour to collectively and intellectually contribute for inclusive, holistic and sustainable development of Kargil through policy research.

The CEC while hailing the initiative of the members of the CSDPR led by the Former Joint Commissioner JNV expressed optimism that the centre would emerge as the ideal platform for intellectuals, researchers, philanthropists and people from other fields to come together and work for the betterment and development of Kargil district.

He further said that the platform will also help in understanding the upcoming new set up of UT Ladakh which will help in the overall development of the region. Eminent educationist Kaneez Fatima while briefing about the motive of the trust exhorted upon the young researchers and contributors to come forward and help them to achieve a positive headway for the development of the district. Later, registration forms were also distributed for membership in the trust.
