CBI Arrests Fireman in Udhampur For Accepting Rs 15,000 Bribe

   

SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a Fireman posted under the Assistant Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Udhampur, for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe for processing and issuing a Fire and Emergency Services NOC for a hotel in Katra.

The CBI said it registered a case against the accused on October 6 following a complaint alleging that he had demanded Rs 40,000 from the complainant for processing and issuance of the NOC.

According to the agency, the demand was subsequently negotiated and the accused agreed to accept Rs 15,000.

The CBI laid a trap on October 6 and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.

The agency said further investigation in the case is underway.
