SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Sub-Inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, posted at Police Station Janipur in Jammu, in an alleged bribery case.
The CBI registered a case on August 16 based on a complaint alleging that the accused officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for not registering an FIR against him in connection with a marital dispute.
Following negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs 10,000 as a bribe, the agency said.
The CBI laid a trap on August 16 and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
Further investigation in the case is underway, the CBI said.
