SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a ward officer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) in Srinagar on Thursday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, officials said.
An official said the CBI laid a trap following a complaint and caught the officer allegedly accepting the bribe.
The officer was identified as Jameel Ahmad Sheikh, who was holding charge of Ward 18 (Safakadal) of the SMC, the official said.
A case has been registered at the CBI Police Station in Srinagar under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. (KDC)
