SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has filed a chargesheet in a case related to an alleged fake MBBS admission, in which a complainant was reportedly cheated of Rs 13 lakh.
According to an official statement, the chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 10/2024 under Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code before the Court of the Sub-Judge, Baramulla. The accused named in the case are Aquib Javeed, son of Mohd Ayoub, and Mohd Ahtesham Ahmad, son of Mohd Ayoub, both residents of Ring Road, Adarsh Nagar, Gulbarga, in Kalaburagi district of Karnataka.
The case was registered following a written complaint in which the complainant alleged that he was contacted by Dr Shamsu-Din, who was working at Al-Amin Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka. The complainant stated that he was assured an MBBS admission for his son through accused Aquib Javeed. Based on this assurance, the complainant allegedly paid Rs 13 lakh.
The complainant further alleged that no MBBS admission was arranged for his son in any medical college and the money paid was not returned.
After receiving the complaint, Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, initiated an investigation. During the investigation, it emerged that Aquib Javeed, in conspiracy with his brother Mohd Ahtesham Ahmad, allegedly cheated the complainant by falsely promising an MBBS admission in KBN Medical College, Bijapur.
The investigation found that offences under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC were made out against the accused. The chargesheet has been submitted before the court in absentia, with proceedings initiated under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
