First of its kind in country, a new postgraduate program, Masters in Craft Management and Entrepreneurship (MCME) was launched in Srinagar today. The program envisioned by Craft Development Institute (CDI), Srinagar, and recognized by University of Kashmir, was launched by Shantmanu, the commissioner secretary industries and commerce, in a function at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conventional Complex (SKICC).

While speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu said that MCME is first initiative for introducing a University recognized professional course based on unique curriculum to develop multifaceted human resource for the craft sector. He hoped that the MCME program would prove most rewarding and provide career opportunities to the graduates as trained craft entrepreneurs, craft managers, craft merchandisers and craft trainers (resources persons), in private as well as government sectors. He also advised the students of the first batch of MCME not to hanker after government jobs after completing their degree but established their own enterprises.

Director CDI, M S Farooqi, who was present on the occasion, said that MCME is an effort to create a motivated and professionally trained human resource for over all development of the craft centre. On the occasion, the syllabus and prospectus of the MCME was also released.
