Reacting to the erratic load shedding by power development department (PDD), the opposition, People Democratic Party (PDP), accused National Conference (NC) led coalition government of pushing the state into Stone Age.

Chief spokesperson of PDP, Nayeem Akhtar, said the insensitive attitude, incoherent policies and inefficient governance of the NC was reviving the bitter memories when Kashmir received only one hour of electricity supply.

“While the ruling NC has been hoodwinking the people on the promise of a return to 1953 position, it seems the government has already achieved a significant milestone by taking the state back to pre-2002 position.”

“With the fuel crisis caused by non-availability of LPG and the power schedule issued by PDD, it seems Stone Age is already here The PDP had done vast changes to improve the power supply,” Akhtar said while blaming the coalition government for the crisis faced by the people.

“For the present government, the consumer is the only culprit as the chief minister had been reportedly tweeting in the past. Had the government been sincere, NC would not have felt the need to sellout state assets for remaining in power,” he said

“The people of the state are actually facing power crisis as a result of decades of power theft by the NC which handed over most power projects to NHPC just to enjoy political power” he said adding, “Every dark and freezing moment should remind people of the state a basic fact about the state’s economic disempowerment” Akhtar said.
