Only two days after the prime minister of India and Pakistan decided to maintain the ceasefire across the LoC in the UN General Assembly, Indian Army has claimed that the Pakistani military violated the ceasefire Monday evening and both the parties exchanged fire.

As per a senior Army officer, “Pakistani forces fired upon Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) with mortar shells at Tanghdar Sector in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.”

A senior army official told a local news agency, GNS, “Pakistani troops, armed with heavy machine guns fired at several Indian posts near Eagle post along the LoC in Tanghdar sector in Kupwara district at around 11:30 pm last night.”

“The firing continued till 10:30 am Tuesday morning,” he said adding that Indian forces guarding the border retaliated which resulted in an exchange of fire.”
