The Jammu and Kashmir Census Consultants Wednesday appealed Registrar General of India to consider already working consultants for the permanent posts lying vacant in the office by holding special recruitment for the candidates.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the consultant body said that they were recruited by RGI through an outsourced Company M/S Shri Ram New Horizons Ltd on November 2011. “We were recruited against already lying vacant post,” the statement read. “The contract was extension based year after year. We have worked in all the fields of census i.e. NPR ADHAAR, SRS, CRS, CTU, ADMINISTRATION, COMPUTING field operations etc.”

“We have gained an adequate experience of 4 plus years. The department was exclusively dependent on consultants because of the fact that the permanent staff strength was less than us,” they claimed.

It also said that as per the agreement, the contract has been terminated between the company and the RGI.

“Most of the consultants are lone bread earners of their families and have spent the prime time of our career in the department,” the statement read. “The total number of working consultants is 30 in directorate of census operations, Srinagar, J&K.”
