Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali on behalf of Minister for Law and Justice informed the house that Central Anand Marriage Act, 1909 does not extend to the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Replying to a question by Charanjeet Singh in the upper house Tuesday, the Minister said that State has its own legislation by the name and style of Jammu and Kashmir Anand Marriage Act, Samvat, 2011.
The Minister said the Central Legislation cannot be made applicable in the state as it has its own legislation on the subject.
