SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a Technical Assistant posted in Block Development office Parnia, Khansahib in Budgam district of central Kashmir for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a complainant.
Officials said that the accused has been identified as Sajad Ahmad Raina, Son of Rahim Raina, a resident of Kralwari Chadoora, who was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount.
Sources said the action was initiated following a complaint alleging that the accused employee had demanded a bribe for processing official work. After verification of the complaint, FIR No. 6 of 2026 was registered at ACB Central Kashmir, following which a trap was laid and the accused was apprehended while accepting the bribe.
During the operation, the tainted bribe amount of Rs 40,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused in the presence of independent witnesses, sources said.
Following the arrest, the accused will be taken into custody and further legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. (KDC)
