SRINAGAR: Police in Budgam district have solved a gold bangle theft case registered at Police Station Charar-i-Sharief by arresting a woman and recovering the stolen jewellery.
The case was registered after police received a written complaint alleging that a gold bangle had been stolen from the wrist of the complainant’s mother during their visit to the Charar-i-Sharief Shrine.
Following the complaint, Police Station Charar-i-Sharief registered FIR No. 70/2026 and launched an investigation. Police examined CCTV footage and other available evidence, which led to the identification of the suspected accused.
The accused, identified as Dolly Jan, wife of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and daughter of Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh, a resident of Shaltang, A/P Lalpora, Tangmarg, was subsequently apprehended by the investigating team.
During questioning, police said the accused disclosed her involvement in the theft, following which the stolen gold bangle was recovered from her possession.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
