SRINAGAR: Police in Srinagar district of central Kashmir have registered a case after recovering illicit liquor, beer and allegedly illegally stored fuel during an operation in the Batmaloo area, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said FIR No. 48/2026 was registered at Police Station Batmaloo under Section 48 of the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Act and Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
The case has been registered against Kaiser Hameed Sofi, a resident of Firdousabad, Batmaloo.
According to police, the operation led to the recovery of a large quantity of liquor and fuel allegedly stored in violation of legal provisions.
The seized items included 200 bottles of illicit liquor, each with a capacity of 750 ml, along with 100 bottles of beer.
Police also recovered nearly 130 litres of diesel and petrol allegedly stored illegally.
Officials said further investigation was underway to ascertain the source of the seized material, its intended distribution and any other possible violations linked to the case.
No further arrests or recoveries had been reported at the time of filing this report.
