Central Kashmir: Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining, Seize Multiple Vehicles

   

SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have seized four tippers for allegedly extracting and transporting minor minerals illegally within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kheerbawani.

The vehicles were found involved in the extraction and transportation of mining material without valid authorisation, in violation of prescribed norms, police said.

The tippers were seized on the spot and the matter was subsequently taken up with the concerned Geology and Mining Department. The department imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.

JK Police said it remains committed to curbing illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources.

Police said strict action would continue against those found involved in unlawful mining activities.
