SRINAGAR: The Government has revised the Minimum Assured Procurement Price (MAPP) of onion stocks from Rs 1,270 to Rs 1,580 per quintal, with the revised rate coming into effect from Saturday.

The decision was taken following requests from state governments and is aimed at ensuring better returns for farmers while facilitating effective procurement of quality onion stocks.
In this regard, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi, chaired a meeting in New Delhi with officials of the Department of Consumer Affairs, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd and National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Ltd.
In a social media post, the minister said the meeting focused on streamlining procurement operations to facilitate the purchase of quality onion stocks and to ensure improved remuneration for farmers.
