Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that a chargesheet against the accused in Sumbal rape case will be filled soon in the court.
A police spokesperson in a statement said, “Incident involving an assault on a 3-year-old girl in Sumbal is very much true and based on facts and evidence.”
“Bandipora police is going to file the chargesheet in the court against the arrested accused soon,” he said.
“People are requested not to believe in rumors. Strict action will be taken against people spreading false and misleading information,” said the spokesman.
Earlier on May 08, a minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. It led to violent protests and demonstrations in Sumbal-Pattan area which spilled over to Baramulla, Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama and Anantnag districts. One protestor of Cheenabal village, namely Irshad, was hit by a teargas shell that left him critically injured and subsequently he died at a hospital in Srinagar.
