A spokesperson said that a charge sheet was filed in case FIR No 27/2021 against Brij Nath Bhat of Srinagar and Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Budgam before the court of Judge Small Causes Srinagar for their alleged involvement in commission of offences punishable under Sections 420, 468, 471 & 120-B of RPC.

The statement affirms that the case stems from a written complaint delivered to the Crime Branch Kashmir.

The complaint alleges that Brij Nath Bhat and Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, operating as a land broker, had jointly entered into an “agreement to sell” a parcel of land spanning 01 Kanal and 10 Marlas, located at Gulab Bagh, Pandachh, Srinagar, to the complainant and his sibling.

“In line with the agreement, the complainant transferred an amount of Rs 47.20 lakh to the accused Brij Nath Bhat’s bank account. Despite having received the full payment, the accused parties failed to effectuate the transfer of land to the complainant. It was further reported that the accused persons have absconded from their known addresses and have even altered their contact numbers,” the statement discloses.

As narrated, the case was registered at P/S Crime Branch Kashmir in 2021, triggering the commencement of an investigation.

“Drawing from the uncovered facts and compelling evidence amassed during the investigation, the case has been established as ‘proven’ against the accused individuals. The chargesheet has subsequently been presented against them for judicial deliberation. Nevertheless, since the primary accused, Brij Nath Bhat, is evading authorities, the chargesheet against him has been filed in absentia under Section 512 CrPC,” the statement further elucidates.

Moreover, the statement expounds that a “Hue and Cry” notice has been published in newspapers to expedite the process of locating the missing individual, Brij Nath Bhat.
