KL Report

Jammu

With the aim of providing a platform to writers who have the zeal to go beyond the usual and highlight invisible development issues of the communities living in the rural borderlands, Charkha Development Communication Network, a Delhi-based nonprofit organization, has announced the ‘Sanjoy Ghose Media Fellowships 2013’ for rural reporting in the Jammu region.  A total of five Fellowships of Rs 50,000 each will support the eight-month term requiring in-depth research, rural travel and at least six sharply-focused writings that are expected to create impact by bringing desired change in the issues being highlighted through the articles.

The Fellowships offers an opportunity for writers to experience the social, economic and cultural life of rural disadvantaged communities in the Jammu region and reflect, through their writings, the status of development as perceived by the people.

The Fellowships are open to writers with at least three years of professional experience. Accredited journalists and previous Charkha fellows are not eligible to apply.

The interested candidates will be required to send a detailed CV, a proposal of 1000 words explaining the broad outline of the particular theme chosen by the applicant, three articles published over the past three years and two letters of recommendation from persons in a related field who are known to the applicant professionally and not in any personal capacity.
