One of the three militants killed in a gunfight with the police and the CRPF in Chattabal area of Srinagar has been identified as a Fayaz Ahmad Hamaal son of Mohammad Sultan Hamal resident of Khanqah area of Srinagar.

Police sources said that the encounter has been ended and three militants have been killed.

They added that the identification of other two slain militants are being ascertained.

A civilian was also killed after a forces vehicle allegedly ran over him during clashes in Safa Kadal.

An assistant commandant of the CRPF was injured during the initial firefight.

The gunfight ensued after SOG and CRPF launched a joint cordon-and-search-operation at Gasi Mohalla in Chattabal.

Meanwhile, DGP SP Vaid taking to social networking site twitter wrote “encounter concluded in Chattabal Srinagar. Three bodies of militants recovered in a clean operation by J&K Police & CRPF. Well done boys.”
