Chenab Valley Holds Post Friday Prayer Protests

Complete Bandh was observed by a particular community in Bhaderwah township of Doda district where as in other parts of Doda and Kishtwar townships people held protest demonstration soon after the Friday prayers.

Security had been beefed up in and around the townships where as additional deployment has been engaged in sensitive parts of Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Bhalessa, Thathri and other places of Chenab Valley.

Reports said that people had found some holy verses scattered in various places in Bhaderwah.

In this connection, Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah had given a bandh call which was supported almost all the religious organisations in Chenab Valley.

All the shops and private establishment remained closed today as a mark of protest.

Reports from Kishtwar said that huge protest demonstration was held in the township soon after Friday prayers and thousands of people protested against this barbaric incident and raised slogans against the communal forces.

Similar type of protests were held in Bhalessa, Thathri and Doda after the Friday Nimaz; in Doda large number of people held protest over this incident and shouted anti-administration, anti-RSS and anti-Shiv Sena slogans.

Bar Association Doda President, Advocate Asim Hashmi, in his statement strongly condemned anti-Muslim activities and press statements against the particular community.

He further said, “these communal forces are trying to create tension and gap among the people residing in Chenab valley.” He warned the administration that if the situation is not tackled immediately it may go bad to worst and if there will be law and order problem, the administration itself will be responsible for the same.
