One day workshop was held at Nigeen Club, Srinagar on Thursday in which cheques worth Rs 65 lakh were distributed among the beneficiaries covered under National Safai Kramcharies Finance & Development Corporation (NSKFDC) & National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation schemes. The workshop was sponsored by National Safai Kramcharies Finance and Development Corporation, New Delhi, GOI.

So far,320 persons have been benefitted and provided Rs.3.75 crore as financial assistance under various schemes of NSKFDC, Bank Tie-up scheme, Direct Financing /Educational loan scheme. While speaking in the function Sakina Itoo, minister for Social Welfare and Chairperson J&K SC, ST and Backward Development Corporation, directed the concerned officers to reach out to remote areas and share the necessary information about the various welfare schemes launched by the government for their upliftment. She confirmed it from the officers that there should be no delay in providing loan facilities to the people of those categories falling under the schemes of the Corporation.

Sakina said that the prime objective of the Corporation is to work for socio-economic and educational upliftment of its target group people including SC, ST, Backward, Notified Minorities, Safai Karamcharies and Handicapped and to provide them self employment avenues, so that they can become economically independent and self reliant members of the society.
