Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday termed the resignation of Dr Shah Faesal, the first Kashmiri IAS topper, from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) “sad”, saying the world will take note of his cry of anguish and defiance.

“Though sad, I salute Shah Faesal IAS (now resigned). Every word of his statement is true and is an indictment of the BJP government. The world will take note of his cry of anguish and defiance,” the former Finance Minister tweeted.

Faesal announced on Wednesday that he had quit the coveted service in protest against unabated killings in Jammu and Kashmir and against the marginalization of Indian Muslims by the Hindutva forces, “reducing them to second class citizens”.

After topping the civil service exam in 2010, Faesal was allotted the home cadre of Jammu and Kashmir. He served as District Magistrate, Director of School Education and Managing Director of the state-owned Power Development Corporation.

  1. Shah Faesal had not done any great sacrifice for the nation by resigning from his post. Ppl like Chidambram who are thoroughly corrupt supporting his resignation is not a surprise to us. The turmoil in Kashmir is his party’s doing. Congress is responsible for militancy in kashmir. They have botched up the Kashmir Accord by giving them special status and Art 37 A on the sly by their Babus of their time. Idiotic clowns like Manishankar Aiyyar by hobnobbing with Pak and separatists trying to bring down a sincere, hard-working , corruption free govt. All Congress politicians are corrupt. They think they Own India and the right to plunder this country. Citizens of this country wish to see such corrupt politicians out of power and behind the bars.
