SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s Chrysanthemum Garden is expected to remain in bloom until early December, offering visitors a new attraction during the autumn season, with around 3.5 lakh flowering plants planted at the garden, Director Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, Kashmir, Mathoora Masoom, said on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar, Masoom said the garden had been developed with expanded flower beds, colourful floral displays, water features, pergolas, selfie points and upgraded visitor facilities.
She said the department aimed to establish the Chrysanthemum Garden as a major seasonal attraction on the lines of Kashmir’s Tulip Garden, which draws large numbers of visitors during spring.
“Our aim is to ensure that no season in Kashmir is dull. Spring should be associated with tulips and autumn with chrysanthemums,” she said, describing the project as a long-standing dream of the department.
Masoom said the garden’s design centred on chrysanthemums, with chinar, maple and ginkgo trees adding to the autumn colours and enhancing the landscape.
She acknowledged the challenges posed by weather conditions during preparations, adding that officers and gardeners had worked together to complete the project.
The flowering season is expected to last around one-and-a-half months, with blooms potentially continuing until December 5 or 6, depending on the weather, she said.
Masoom expressed hope that the garden would draw a significant number of visitors this autumn and help broaden Kashmir’s tourism appeal beyond the spring tulip season.
