The drill was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority. The exercise simulated hostile situations such as air raid sirens, blackout protocols, and emergency response procedures to evaluate the readiness of civil authorities, emergency services, and the local population.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC stated that the drill was part of a broader initiative to bolster preparedness and address critical gaps in civil defence mechanisms.

Personnel from multiple civil defence and emergency service units took part in the drill, which aimed to replicate real-time scenarios stemming from potential external threats or unforeseen disasters.

Officials said that the mock drill was instrumental in testing inter-agency coordination, evaluating public awareness, and reinforcing the ability of local administration to act swiftly during emergencies. The exercise also aimed at enhancing the security of critical installations and ensuring a robust disaster response system is in place.
