The incident was reported ahead of the CJP’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar, where demonstrators were expected to seek the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Before travelling to Delhi, Dipke had said he was ready to be arrested in connection with the proposed demonstration. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of using security restrictions to discourage public participation.

Dipke also questioned the deployment of security forces and restrictions on movement, alleging that the government was apprehensive about young people and other citizens challenging its actions.

Separately, media reports said at least 600 people had been detained under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act as authorities stepped up security across the national capital ahead of the protest.
