Intense clashes erupted between forces and civilian protesters during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a Shopian village on Tuesday evening.
Reports said that forces launched CASO in Heff village in Shopian in south Kashmir after input about the presence of militants.
They said that locals hit the streets and pelted rocks with forces soon after they started the search operation.
Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling, pellet and stun grenade firing injuring several protesters, local sources said.
Official sources said that the search operation was launched by 3-RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly.
Sources added that all the entry and exit points in the locality have been sealed.
