Intense clashes erupted between forces and civilian protesters during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a Shopian village on Friday evening.
Reports said that forces launched CASO in Shirmal village in Shopian in southern part of Kashmir after input about the presence of militants.
They said that locals hit the streets and pelted rocks on forces soon after they started search operation.
Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling, pellet and stun grenade firing injuring several protesters, local sources said.
The CASO was lifted from the village when this report was filed.
