Violent clashes between protesters and forces broke out at Kreeri in district Baramulla after Friday prayers, sources said.
A Palhalan youth was found dead in a Kreeri village two days earlier. Police has claimed that the deceased Mudassir Ahmad Sofi was a militant. Palhalan and Kreeri are observing shutdown since the death of Sofi.
Reports said that soon after the Friday prayers people started protesting against the death of Sofi calling it “result of a fake encounter”. The protesters pelted stones on the local SOG camp and the SOG men in retaliation fired dozens of tear smoke shells resulting in chaos and tension in the area.
Reports said that at least two persons were injured during violent clashes which were going on when the reports last came in.
