Police had to use tear smoke canisters against the protesters in Hajin, when the later came out on roads raising anti-India slogans.

The clashes intensified after police arrested two youth from the road side.

Reports said that dozens of protesters tried to gather in the main market of Hajin despite a heavy deployment of Police and CRPF.

The men in uniform tried to disperse them by chasing but the protesters pelted stones and started raising anti-Police, anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

Soon, clashes erupted in the area and police used tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters who had gathered in large numbers by then.

The protesters intensified their protests after police arrested two youngsters. The arrested were identified as Hilal Ahmad Wani 21 years, resident of Wahab Parray Mohalla and Asif Hamid 16 years, a resident of Banger Mohalla.

Police sources said that the arrested were involved in pelting stones.

The situation in the town was tense when the reports last came in.
