Under district credit plan 2013-14, Baramulla district has recorded an achievement of 48.41% as on December 31, 2013. An amount of Rs.595.15 Crore was disbursed among 29314 beneficiaries under district plan under various schemes.

This was revealed during DLRC meeting of the district held at meeting hall of Dak Bunglow, Baramulla while the district development commissioner Baramulla reviewed the achievements under the credit plan.

Under Priority Sector Advances the district has achieved a growth of 34% on year on year basis. Under agriculture sector 50% growth has been made on year on year basis.

The district development commissioner who chaired the meeting advised all the banks and the sponsoring agencies to work with cooperation, coordination and cohesion to achieve the goals and targets of development & progress besides generation of employment for unemployed youth of the district. He also directed various agencies to conduct awareness programmes at Village/block levels to generate proper awareness among the people.

A J&K Bank press release said on Tuesday that FLCC Kupwara in collaboration with Lead Bank Office and Handicrafts Department organised a  Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling camp  at Gutlipora on February  6, 2014. The camp was attended by 75 persons  mainly the trainees of the local Handicrafts Center besides the local residents of the village.

The participants were apprised about the concept of savings and taking loans from the banks. A detailed account of various deposit and loan schemes of the bank particularly about Daskar Finance, Artisan Credit Card , SKEWPY, Education loan ,Housing loan, consumer & consumption  loan schemes was given to the participants. The youth were asked to avail the benefits under various Govt. sponsored schemes for establishment of income generating units for better livelihood.

Meanwhile, Local Advisory Committee meeting (LAC), 3rd in series, was held on February 6 2014 under the Chairmanship of Zonal Head North J&K Bank M S Kaboo. Director RSETI M M Fayaz presented the training calendar and the financial Budget for the year 2014-15 which was duly approved by members which include ADC Bandipora. Nazir Ahmad Baba, AGM NABARD, Des Raj, Cluster Head II Shahzad Ahmad, Lead Bank Officer Bandipora Ayoub Ahmad Khuroo and Heads of Line Departments and NGO’s.

Besides, a general EDP Programme was conducted for down trodden Fishermen who were accommodated under loan with low rate of Interest under DRI category and the cheques were distributed to the 39 respective fishermen by Zonal Head North J&K Bank, ADC Bandipora, Director RSETI Bandipora, Assistant Director Fisheries department Bandipora, AGM NABARD and Cluster Head North II for renovation of Boats, nets, mud pools etc.
