Intense clashes erupted between forces and civilian protesters during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a Shopian village on Sunday evening.
Reports said that forces launched CASO in Homuna Nagbal village in Shopian in south Kashmir after input about the presence of militants.
Reports said as the force personnel were laying siege youth started raising slogans and throwing stones. Forces retaliated with tear gas shelling and tried to chase away the protesters.
Official sources said that the search operation was launched by 44 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly.
They said that as the protests intensified the forces called off the operation.
