SRINAGAR: An incident of cloudburst has taken place near the cave shrine of Amarnath.
One-liner information bit from the disaster management authority said: “Cloudburst near Holy Cave, 25 tents and two Langhars affected.”
One report said that rescue teams rushed to the spot. At least three kitchens have been washed away, one report said.
One report claimed that casualties are feared and at least four bodies have already been recovered. However, officials are yet to confirm it. The cloudburst took place at around 5:30 pm. Choppers have been inducted to help the pilgrims to safety. ITBP, Jammu Kashmir Police, and Army are also part of the operation.
Yatra was halted for the time being till the rescue operations are over.
