Awami Ittehad party chief and MLA Langate Er Rasheed has sought unconditional release of political prisoners and withdrawal of FIR’s against thousands of Kashmiris who were seeking right to self-determination on the streets since July 9 2016.
While interacting with people of different sections of life at Pampore town Thursday Rasheed said that Mehbooba Mufti’s recent sermons to police to look into cases against youth and asking to release innocents has exposed many untold truths, a statement of AIP issued here read.
Rasheed said, “By asking police to release youths, Mehbooba Mufti has herself confessed that innocents have been booked by police without any fault. “It shows her helplessness to get innocents released, but also speaks about the level of highhandedness and lawlessness in state.”
The incumbent lawmaker said, “She needs to be told that any CM has not to beg to release innocents and she must book all those police officers who have put innocents behind the bars and lodged fabricated FIR’s against them. If despite CM’s desire to release innocent, thousands are languishing in Jails, it proves beyond doubt that either police has been given complete free hand by CM to do what they want or police administration is not taking CM seriously. Mehboob Mufti needs to explain her position over such sensitive issues.”
