Having plan of opening around 100 business units in next year, J&K Bank’s Zonal office complex, Sopore, foundation stone was laid on Monday. Coming up on the total land area of 7000 Sq m, apart from the office building, the plan includes a small guest house for visitors, flats for staff and utility area

The foundation stone was laid by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in presence of Bank’s Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmad.
The ceremony was attended by the Bank’s Executive Presidents, Presidents, Vice Presidents, other officers and a large gathering customers from Sopore area.

While observing the architectural model of the office compound, Chief Minister expressed hope that the building of Zonal Office Complex would further boost the economic empowerment of the district and go a long way in turning around the fortunes of every section of society in Sopore.

Subsequently addressing combined gathering and select customers, Mushtaq Ahmad  said, “Today the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has laid the foundation stone of a building, but it would be a landmark institution for the people of North Kashmir in many ways.”

“We are keenly aware of the responsibility that is placed upon us and we will deliver to the satisfaction of our stakeholders. We expect the building to come up within the next 2 years”, he added.

Appreciating the customers for their support for the Bank, Mushtaq said, “We expect continued trust and support for J&K Bank from you, which has earned us many prestigious awards like the recent CNBC TV 18 Best Bank Award in the Old Private Sector Bank category.”

Giving a brief overview of the Bank’s expansion plan, he said,

“We plan to open around 100 Business Units (B.U) in the next year and the recruitment drive for officers is already under process.

“Within the last two years, the Bank has opened 100 new Business Units, commissioned 300 ATMs and recruited more than 1500 Banking Associates.”

However, he cautioned that the expansion policy of the Bank must be accompanied by the socio-economic transformation of the places involved.

While addressing to the staff of the bank, the chairman while stressing upon the need of providing best customer services to the people, said that being the major stakeholders, better customer service is the right of people and not any generous gesture from the bankers. “Customer is always right. We have tailor made financial products for every segment of our customers. It’s our duty to make the customers aware about relevant financial products and deliver these products at their doorstep without any hassles,” said the chairman.
