A group of senior ministers presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh about LPG crisis in valley in New Delhi on Monday. The ministers expressed the hope that Centre would positively accede to the justify demand of Jammu and Kashmir Government.

The meeting was in light of the decision taken in the last State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.

The group of Ministers led by deputy chief minister, Tara Chand comprised Peerzada Mohammad Syed, S. S. Slathia and Qamar Ali Akhoon. They discussed issue of supply of subsidized LPG gas cylinders to the consumers in the state.

While highlighting the peculiar geographical diversity, severe winter, remoteness of the State, insufficiency of electricity and economic stress of people due to long period of militancy, the delegation of Ministers strongly advocated enhancement in the number of subsidized LPG cylinders to be supplied to the consumers in Jammu and Kashmir.

Explaining the requirement which led to capping of supply of subsidized LPG cylinders, the Prime Minister has assured the group of Ministers that the demand of the Jammu and Kashmir in this regard would be looked into.
