Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has arrived at the residence of union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Saturday. The two are likely to discuss the security situation in the conflict-ridden state. On Friday, Mehbooba had warned her cabinet colleagues to perform or get ready to face stern action while addressing a high-level meeting of PDP leaders.

Reports said that the tense situation in the state, inability of ministers to break political impasse, especially in southern parts of Kashmir and gaps in governance were discussed in the meeting. “She (Mehbooba) told the meeting that ministers have to shape up or ship out. She said that appraisal will be based on performance, public contact and behaviour towards workers,” sources said.

On July 12, three Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed by forces in Budgam district. Earlier this week, seven amarnath yatris were killed after they came under cross fire between forces and suspected militants in Islamabad district.

Rajnath Singh had condemned the incident adding that the condemnation of the incident from all corners proved that “Kashmiriyat was still alive”.
