SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that a 50MVA, 220/33kV GIS Grid Sub-Station has been proposed at Batkote, Pahalgam, under the 2022-27 transmission plan for Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to a starred question by MLA Altaf Ahmad Wani, Abdullah, who also holds the Power Department portfolio, stated that the transmission projects, including the Batkote Grid Station, are being implemented in a phased manner, depending on load growth and technical feasibility.
The Chief Minister further elaborated that, as per guidelines issued by the Ministry of Power and Tariff Policy, projects exceeding the threshold limits set by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) can be executed through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mode. Given that JERC has set ₹100 crore as the threshold limit, the most suitable execution mode for the project is under review, and a final decision will be made after considering prevailing price levels.
On land acquisition, Abdullah informed the House that the identification of land for the proposed Grid Sub-Station is currently in progress.
