SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday condemned the alleged use of force by Delhi Police against Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas, describing the incident as unacceptable and indefensible.
In a post on X, Abdullah said using force against an unarmed protester could not be justified under any circumstances, adding that Brittas’s position as an elected Member of Parliament made the alleged assault particularly serious.
“I join all my JKNC colleagues in condemning this reprehensible brutality,” Abdullah said.
His remarks followed allegations by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) that Brittas had been brutally assaulted by Delhi Police and subsequently left by the roadside in an injured and distressed condition.
