The Chief Minister said the international recognition had brought global attention to Jammu and Kashmir’s rich civilisational legacy and its enduring contribution to history and literature.

Preserved at the Oriental Research Library in the Sri Pratap Singh Library Complex, Srinagar, the historic manuscript is an invaluable repository of Kashmir’s history, documenting its rulers, society, traditions and cultural evolution.

Written by 12th-century historian Kalhana, Rajatarangini is regarded as one of the earliest systematic historical chronicles of the Indian subcontinent and occupies an important place in Kashmir’s literary and intellectual heritage.

He said the recognition would strengthen efforts to preserve, document and promote Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural heritage while enhancing its visibility on the international stage.
